Mini calzones with spicy oil

Ingredients needed

Dough

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 100 ml water at room temperature
  • 50 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons FAVUZZI olive oil
     

Stuffing

  • Firm mozzarella, cut in small dice
  • 4-5 thin ham slices, cut into pieces
     

Decorate

  • FAVUZZI pizza tomato sauce
  • FAVUZZI spicy oil

Steps of preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, the baking powder, the salt and the sugar.
  2. Add the water, the milk and the oil and blend until smooth. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll out to a 3-5 mm thickness.
  3. Use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut out rounds of dough.
  4. Put 2 mozzarella dice and a piece of ham in the centre of each round, leaving 2 cm free around the edges.
  5. With a small brush, dampen the edges with warm water, then fold in half to close the mini calzones. Seal the edges carefully with a fork.
  6. Place the calzones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving a good distance between them.
  7. Brush each one with a bit of tomato sauce and spicy oil.
  8. Bake in a 200°C oven for 15-18 minutes, until golden. Serve warm.

 

*Alternatively, these can be prepared with pizza dough.
